Ukrainian Prime Minister Arseniy Yatsenyuk announced his resignation Thursday following the collapse of the ruling European Choice parliamentary coalition.
“If no new coalition is formed and the existing coalition in a parliamentary-presidential republic had collapsed, the government and the prime minister have to resign. I announce my resignation because of the coalition’s collapse,” he said.
Yatsenyuk also expressed disappointment with Ukrainian parliament’s decision to reject a bill that allows the government to hand over up to 49 percent of the country’s gas transport system to investors from the European Union and the United States.

UNITED NATIONS, March 04, /ITAR-TASS/. Russia has called a UN Security Council meeting in order to clarify in detail its position regarding the situation in Ukraine, Russia’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations Vitaly Churkin told reporters on Monday, heading for the Council meeting.
“I will explain in detail the position of the Russian Federation on the current situation in Ukraine, as well as how the Russian policy in this sphere is being built,” he said.

UN Security Council to meet to discuss situation in Ukraine

The United Nations Security Council will hold a private meeting at midnight Moscow Time [20:00 GMT Friday] to discuss the situation in Ukraine, Martin Nesirky, a spokesman for the global organization’s Secretary General Ban Ki-moon, told journalists on Friday.

Parliament in Ukraine Votes to Give Yanukovych ICC Trial

KIEV, February 25 (RIA Novosti) – Ukraine’s parliament approved a resolution Tuesday to have deposed President Viktor Yanukovych tried at the International Criminal Court for crimes against humanity.

Under the motion, approved by 324 deputies in the 450-seat chamber, top officials who have been linked to the killing of protesters in the period from late November through to last week should face prosecution at the tribunal.

KIEV, February 22 (RIA Novosti) – Ukraine’s parliament voted Saturday to impeach the president as opposition parties rushed to consolidate their apparently growing hold on authority in the former Soviet nation.

Speaking from a location in his political stronghold in the east of the country, however, Viktor Yanukovych defied attempts to unseat him, describing them as a coup.
In the same session of parliament, deputies voted to hold early presidential elections on May 25.

The Ukrainian opposition will seek approval of the resignation of President of Ukraine, Viktor Yanukovych, in the Parliament, Reuters reports with a reference to Oksana Zinovieva, spokesperson of the opposition leader of the Ukrainian Udar party Vitali Klitschko.

"We will send a resolution demanding from Yanukovych to resign. This will allow the Parliament to set a date for early elections", Reuters quotes Zinovieva’s words.
