State Department refutes reports of Rubio’s plans to resign

The U.S. State Department has denied reports that the head of the agency, Marco Rubio, allegedly plans to step down from his position.

"These are completely baseless, false reports from made-up, anonymous 'sources,'" wrote Dylan Johnson, an aide to the head of the State Department, on the social media platform X.

This was his response to a report by an Independent journalist. Citing unnamed high-level sources in the United States and the United Kingdom, the publication claimed that Rubio would resign in order to launch his own presidential campaign.
