Yemen’s army begins ‘strategic offensive’ to retake Sanaa from Houthi control

The army of Yemen’s internationally recognised government says it began a “strategic” assault on the capital to recapture it from the Houthi rebels.

“Our armed forces have begun carrying out a strategic offensive operation on Sanaa,” Brigadier-General Majid al-Nuzaili said in a post on X.

“We are using modern capabilities in the strategic offensive operation,” he said.

The Houthi-affiliated Al Masirah network reported in a post on Telegram there was a Saudi attack on Sanaa.
