An oil tanker turned back in the Strait of Hormuz following a warning from the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), the United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO) reported on Monday.
The vessel, which was entering the strait, was contacted 11 nautical miles north of Khasab, Oman.
The tanker's captain confirmed receiving the instruction to turn back, along with a warning that failure to do so would result in the vessel being treated as a target, and stated that he complied with the order.
Authorities are investigating the incident. The UKMTO advised vessels to transit with caution and report any incidents.
