The Italian government will send 500 troops to Milan to maintain public order, the newspaper Il Messaggero reports, citing sources.
The decision was reportedly reached during a meeting focused on the protests in the city, chaired by Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni.
The decree on the deployment of the military personnel is set to be approved during an extraordinary meeting of the Council of Ministers, which will take place on Tuesday, October 20.
It was previously reported that police in Milan detained around 160 people during unrest. About 80% of them are minors.
