"We are not Mexico": Trump demands state be renamed

US President Donald Trump has once again advocated for renaming the state of New Mexico to "New America." He expressed this position on the social media platform Truth Social.

The American leader stated that the state should abandon its current name, given that it is part of the United States rather than Mexico. In Trump’s view, a new name would enhance the region’s prestige and contribute to an increase in the income of its residents.

Furthermore, the U.S. President linked a potential name change to the conduct of elections in the state. He expressed hope that, following a name change, voting in New Mexico would become fair, asserting that the region is known for dishonest elections.

New Mexico Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham, a Democrat, has previously criticized this initiative.
