French Prime Minister does not rule out declaring a state of emergency amid widespread unrest

French PM Sébastien Lecornu did not rule out the introduction of a state of emergency in response to the widespread unrest.

"This is a serious matter, not least in terms of its implementation. So, if it becomes necessary, we could obviously do it. At the moment, however, imposing a curfew seems more appropriate for the current situation," he told reporters.

Earlier today, the head of the government announced partial restrictions on presence in the central areas of certain cities. These will take effect this evening. Lecornu did not disclose any further details.
