US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent announced that the parties had reached an agreement to extend the trade truce, Reuters reports.
The statement came shortly after US President Donald Trump personally welcomed Chinese leader Xi Jinping at Andrews Air Force Base in Maryland.
The Chinese Embassy in Washington did not provide immediate comment. "China and the United States should be partners, not rivals," Xi said in a written statement released by the Chinese Embassy.
However, the text made no mention of a trade agreement.
