Pakistan's armed forces have struck the city of Kandahar in southern Afghanistan, the Tolonews portal reports, citing an Afghan official

The strikes caused no damage. Despite a powerful explosion heard across all districts of Kandahar, law enforcement officials assured residents there was no cause for concern.

The strike occurred against a backdrop of escalating tensions between Pakistan and Afghanistan.

 On September 18, a suicide bomber attacked a mosque within a police complex in the Pakistani city of Kohat, killing 31 people.
