Σκόπια - FYROM: Αγάλματα και μνημεία αξίας 570 εκατ.

Τα 570 εκατ. ευρώ έχει φτάσει το κόστος του σχεδίου της κυβέρνησης του Νίκολα Γκρούεφσκι για την ανάπλαση της πλατείας των Σκοπίων.

A court in Skopje has jailed the former chief excavator, Pasko Kuzman, for three years for his role in the organized smuggling of archaeological valuables from the country.

After a year-long trial in a case codenamed “Phalanx”, the former head of F.Y.R.O.M.’s Cultural Heritage Protection Office has been found guilty of aiding a criminal ring to excavate and sell off valuable archaeological artifacts.

The prosecution said he and other office employees in 2011 gave permission to third parties to dig in locations near the town of Delcevo and along the road from Skopje to Veles.

Οι οικονομικές, αναπτυξιακές, τουριστικές και πολιτιστικές δυνατότητες της Θεσσαλονίκης, που αποτελούν πλεονεκτήματα και την κάνουν να ξεχωρίζει ανάμεσα στις πόλεις της περιοχής, παρουσιάστηκαν σήμερα σε εκδήλωση στα Σκόπια, στο Οικονομικό Επιμελητήριο της ΠΓΔΜ.

Επικεφαλής της αποστολής της πόλης της Θεσσαλονίκης ήταν ο δήμαρχος Γιάννης Μπουτάρης και στην εκδήλωση συμμετείχαν εκπρόσωποι περίπου 70 φορέων και επιχειρήσεων από τη Θεσσαλονίκη και ανάλογος αριθμός φορέων και επιχειρήσεων από τα Σκόπια.

Κατά 8 εκατομμύρια ευρώ ζημίωσε τον Δήμο Τσένταρ των Σκοπίων την περίοδο 2008-2010 η κατασκευή αγαλμάτων.
Σύμφωνα με δεύτερο πόρισμα που εκπόνησε ομάδα ειδικών, κατόπιν παραγγελίας του δημάρχου του Τσένταρ, Αντρέι Ζερνόφσκι, ο οποίος πρόσκειται στην αντιπολίτευση, η προκλήθηκε από διαγωνισμούς, που προκήρυξε η προηγούμενη δημοτική αρχή, σχετικά με την κατασκευή αγαλμάτων, οι οποίοι, την περίοδο 2008-2010, κατακυρώθηκαν σε δύο ιταλικές εταιρείες.

Όπως έγινε γνωστό, οι δύο αυτές ιταλικές εταιρείες, οι οποίες έχουν τον ίδιο ιδιοκτήτη, είχαν «προνομιακή μεταχείριση» από την τότε δημοτική αρχή του Τσένταρ (ελεγχόταν από το κυβερνών VMRO-DPMNE) σε σύγκριση με άλλες εταιρείες που συμμετείχαν στους διαγωνισμούς.

Skopje 2014 triggers fresh debates in FYROM.

“Skopje 2014” project has once again triggered debates between  political parties in FYROM, as  opposition has launched accusations against the government.

The largest opposition  party, LSDM accused prime minister Nikola Gruevski, Minister of Culture, Elizabeta Kanceska-Milevska and VMRO-DPMNE government of being involved in a multi-million affair based on the revision report prepared on “Skopje 2014” project by experts. “According to the revision that has been done, bids that amount to 227% higher than the budget have been accepted. The damages caused to the “Center” commune are estimated to be 8 million Euros”, declared LSDM.

Το άγαλμα κόστισε 10,5 εκατομμύρια ευρώ και είναι τόσο αυθεντικό όσο και η απομίμηση του Μεγάλου Καναλιού της Βενετίας στο Λας Βέγκας».

The FYROM government has spent huge sums turning its capital, Skopje, into a neo-baroque architectural nightmare. The project's gaudy excesses camouflage a disastrous economy and troubling record on human rights. 

Jets of water spurt into the air in front of the warriors: red, yellow, blue, violet. The eight bronze men stare fiercely through the spray of the fountain, while far above their heads, Alexander the Great sits enthroned, raising one sword up at the sky. Wagner and Tchaikovsky blare out of the speakers and the water shoots more or less in time with the music.

How should one assert itself when one is, like FYROM, a small country with one neighbour, Bulgaria, that contests its national identity and another, Greece, that "contests" (sic) its name. For two years now this small Balkan republic of two million people, forced officially to call itself FYROM (the English acronym for “Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia”), has deployed phenomenal energy and methods to prove that it has roots as ancient as those of its two prickly neighbours: it is rewriting its history in bronze and stucco, in dozens of statues that now adorn Skopje, its capital.

Government in FYROM has illegaly allocated 58 million Euros for the funding of the “Skopje 2014” project.

This has been the conclusion of the commission of experts of the “Qender” commune in Skopje, which has revised the expenses of the “Skopje 2014” project.

According to the commission, the government has funded the majority part of the monuments and that it had transferred the money in the account of Qender commune. According to the commission, this transfer is illegal, because there is no law for the support of such projects and the transfer of money for reasons of this nature.

A recent report reveals the millions of euro paid in fees to the sculptors involved in the revamp of the capital called "Skopje 2014".
For the first time since the launch of the project, the government on Monday presented an official financial report, which confirmed rumours of the hefty fees paid to the sculptors.

Valentina Stevanovska, author of some of the main statues that form part of the project, including the equestrian statue of Alexander the Great, one of his father, Philip, as well as a triumphal arch, earned 2.9 million euro in fees, the report showed.

Like many of her colleagues involved in the project, Stevanovska was a complete unknown before being awarded commissions to design the grand statues.

Μπορεί το κόστος του φαραωνικού Σχεδίου «Σκόπια 2014» να ξεπερνά τα 200 εκ. ευρώ, η κυβέρνηση της ΠΓΔΜ όμως εξακολουθεί να το υπερασπίζεται ως… αναγκαίο για την προβολή, τον τουρισμό και την αναπτυξιακή πορεία της πρωτεύουσας! Όπως έγινε γνωστό στη διάρκεια συνέντευξης Τύπου που παραχώρησε η υπουργός Πολιτισμού της χώρας Ελιζαμπέτα Κάντσεσκα-Μίλεφσκα, το κόστος (που αρχικά είχε προϋπολογιστεί στα 80 εκ. ευρώ) θα φθάσει τα 207 εκατομμύρια και αναμένεται να ολοκληρωθεί το 2014 – όπως μαρτυρά και το όνομά του.

Citizens of FYROM Tilt Against Skopje Makeover, Poll

More than half of FYROM's Citizens now feel negative about the grand revamp of the capital known as Skopje 2014, a new opinion poll shows. 
 
Asked to describe their feelings about the project, 42.7 per cent of respondents to the poll carried out by the TNS Brima Gallup Intl agency said they felt “very negative” about the changes while 15.1 per cent said they felt “somewhat negative”.

Only 10.9 per cent answered that they felt “very positive” while 15.5 per cent felt “somewhat positive” about Skopje 2014[1].

Another 15.8 per cent of respondents said they were indifferent.

A newly unveiled complex of statues dedicated to unknown "Ancient Greek" heroes is the latest addition to the massive government sponsored revamp of the capital known as Skopje 2014
The massive marble and bronze complex placed in a park opposite parliament has already attracted many onlookers, although the official opening ceremony is not till September 8, FYROM's Independence Day.

The complex consists of three segments, the first representing the world of the living, the second forming a symbolic passage, and the third symbolizing eternity and the world of the gods.

According to the poll by the local Rating agency, an overwhelming 81 per cent of the respondents say the government should stop splashing out on new monuments as part of its grand revamp of the capital known as Skopje 2014.

Only 18 per cent opted for more statues while the rest, less than 1 per cent, said they were not sure.

The issue has sparked a lively debate this week in parliament after the opposition Social Democrats used these numbers to attack the ruling centre-right VMRO DPMNE party for its spending habits at a time of crisis.

FYROM’s plans to shave 5 per cent of the state budget for 2012 will not stop work on the grand revamp of the capital, known as “Skopje 2014”, the authorities have made clear.

Finance Minister Zoran Stavreski recently explained that construction will not be affected by the budget cut of 120 million euro, although the “dynamics” of construction might be “readjusted”.

But the Finance Ministry has not revealed further details about the financing of the project, or about how it is raising funds for it at a time of dire crisis across Europe that is hitting the domestic economy as well.
