After a century of searching, archaeologists said they have found the remnants of an ancient Greek fortress once a center of power in Jerusalem and a stronghold used to hold off a Jewish rebellion celebrated in the scriptural Book of the Maccabees.
Voilà l'homme tout entier, s'en prenant à sa chaussure alors que c'est son pied le coupable. Ca devient inquiétant. Un des larrons fut sauvé. C'est un pourcentage honnête.

Ancient Greek "Caryatid" statues get laser facelift
In the centre of the museum, laser machinery is being used to burn away
the dirt from the marble maidens. Three goggle-clad conservators are
busy zapping decades of grime off the statues.....Greece is long praised by global tourists for its beautiful seaside scenes and amazing architecture. But just like every top tourist spot in the world, it occasionally needs some TLC. A team of experts is giving some of Greece's statues a facelift. In Athens, the marble statues of the maidens known as the "Caryatids" have been blackened by pollution, but the grime is being carefully lasered away.

Skopje 2014 triggers fresh debates in FYROM.
“Skopje 2014” project has once again triggered debates between political parties in FYROM, as opposition has launched accusations against the government.
The largest opposition party, LSDM accused prime minister Nikola Gruevski, Minister of Culture, Elizabeta Kanceska-Milevska and VMRO-DPMNE government of being involved in a multi-million affair based on the revision report prepared on “Skopje 2014” project by experts. “According to the revision that has been done, bids that amount to 227% higher than the budget have been accepted. The damages caused to the “Center” commune are estimated to be 8 million Euros”, declared LSDM.

War over Alexander the Great to rumble on.
By Gareth Harris.
Skopje museum plans sculpture of the Macedonian king and other famous ancient figures.
Skopje museum plans sculpture of the Macedonian king and other famous ancient figures.
The director of an archaeological museum opening
later this year in Skopje, the capital of the former Yugoslav Republic
of Macedonia (FYROM), says it will have 15 wax sculptures of historical figures,
including Alexander the Great (below), his father Philip II and the
philosopher Aristotle, which will do little to improve relations with
Greece or Bulgaria.
Greeks and Bulgarians have bitterly contested FYROM’s claim to figures such as Alexander. Greece has also been
involved in a 22-year naming dispute with FYROM, the name adopted by
the Balkan state in 1991 after the break up of Yugoslavia. The Greek
government fears that FYROM may stake a territorial claim to a
northern area of Greece, which is called Macedonia.

FYROM Makeover: Europe's Flailing Capital of Kitsch.
The FYROM government has spent huge sums turning its capital, Skopje, into a neo-baroque architectural nightmare. The project's gaudy excesses camouflage a disastrous economy and troubling record on human rights.
Jets of water spurt into the air in front of the warriors: red,
yellow, blue, violet. The eight bronze men stare fiercely through the
spray of the fountain, while far above their heads, Alexander the Great
sits enthroned, raising one sword up at the sky. Wagner and Tchaikovsky
blare out of the speakers and the water shoots more or less in time with
the music.

F.Y.R.O.M.: Tweaking history in Skopje. -The country that steals history from Bulgaria, Greece, because it lacks its own
From Alexandre the Great to Mother Teresa, the small republic
wedged between the Bulgaria and the Greece is loading itself down with
debts and statues to confirm its identity.
By Hélène Despic-Popovic
How should one assert itself when one is, like FYROM, a small country with one neighbour, Bulgaria, that contests its national identity and another, Greece, that "contests" (sic) its name. For two years now this small Balkan republic of two million people, forced officially to call itself FYROM (the English acronym for “Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia”), has deployed phenomenal energy and methods to prove that it has roots as ancient as those of its two prickly neighbours: it is rewriting its history in bronze and stucco, in dozens of statues that now adorn Skopje, its capital.

Bulgarian Professor Bozhidar Dimitrov: FYROM is the country that steals history from Bulgaria, Greece, because it lacks its own
"Alexander the Great, as well as his father
Philip II , have self-determined themselves as Greeks in their
public manifestations. Their political idea is the establishment of a
huge Greek state. Any Skopjan fool has the right to give them another
identity some 2,400 years after their death. Giving another ethnic
identity to deceased people – starting from Samuel of Bulgaria and
ending up with Gotse Delchev, is one of the most disgusting crimes of
the "FYROMnism", since these people are dead and they cannot defend
themselves. In the civilised world this vicious practice is called
marauding. By the way, in the armies, all over the world, the marauding
is punished with death"......
Here is an interview of Marijan Nikolovski, journalist of FYROM with Sitel TV, FYROM, with Bulgarian historian Professor Bozhidar Dimitrov, Director of the Bulgarian National Museum of History.

This has been the conclusion of the commission of experts of the “Qender” commune in Skopje, which has revised the expenses of the “Skopje 2014” project.

Ancient theater set for return in Assos
Antalya’s famous Aspendos Theater may soon have some competition from
the north Aegean, as cultural authorities in Çanakkale are beginning
work to restore the ancient (greek) theater in the town of Assos so that it,
too, can host concerts like its more famous Mediterranean cousin.
“After we finish the works, it will be possible to hold events for 4,000 to 5,000 people,” said Çanakkale Onsekiz Mart University (ÇOMÜ) Archeology Department Professor Nurettin Arslan, while suggesting that some of the restorations on the ancient theater would be contingent on receiving better funding.
The (greek) ancient theater is particularly expected to host concerts and festivals during the summer months.

FYROM news: Sculptors Earn Fortunes From Revamp of Skopje (Skopje 2014: New Statue Complex Honours "Ancient Greek" Heroes)
Statue Complex Honours "Ancient Greek" Heroes |
For the first time since the launch of the project, the government on Monday presented an official financial report, which confirmed rumours of the hefty fees paid to the sculptors.
Valentina Stevanovska, author of some of the main statues that form part of the project, including the equestrian statue of Alexander the Great, one of his father, Philip, as well as a triumphal arch, earned 2.9 million euro in fees, the report showed.
Like many of her colleagues involved in the project, Stevanovska was a complete unknown before being awarded commissions to design the grand statues.

Macedonia, Greece [1] , [2]
Australia (neoskosmos com)
Ancient Greek physician and father of medicine Hippocrates stated:
Give me the power to create a fever and I shall cure any disease". More
than two thousand years later, modern scientists are trying to prove his
theory true.
Common viruses are becoming the latest cure against cancer with a
small Australian biotechology group one of the forefronters in this
field.
Ancient Greeks made the observation initially, however, there have
been a couple of cases of cancer patients entering spontaneous remission
after being exposed to common viruses.
