Washington must explicitly respond to Tehran’s demands before the Strait of Hormuz can be fully reopened, Iran’s security chief Mohsen Rezaei has said.
“America’s response to Iran’s rights and demands was not convincing, and they must fully and explicitly address Iran’s seven conditions and act upon them,” Rezaei wrote on X, adding that “only in this case will the Strait of Hormuz be reopened”.
Meanwhile, Iran’s President Masoud Pezeshkian has said a return to war would benefit “no one”, following reports of US strikes on Qeshm Island.
Pezeshkian said Tehran was still trying to resolve the crisis “through dialogue”, adding that Iran’s Supreme Leader had recently granted the government new powers to negotiate issues that were previously “off-limits”.
