US proud of piracy it accuses Iran of - Baqaei

Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baqaei has responded to US Secretary of State Marco Rubio’s accusation that Iran has attacked ships like the Pirates of the Caribbean, recalling US President Donald Trump’s own remarks comparing his country’s actions to piracy. as IRNA writes.

In a post on his X account early on Monday, Baqaei referred to Rubio’s accusation against Iran, in which the US secretary of state said, “We haven’t seen anything like this since World War II and the Pirates of the Caribbean.”

Baqaei noted that on May 1, 2026, US President Donald Trump had proudly spoken about seizing commercial ships and confiscating oil cargoes, saying, “We’re like pirates. We’re sort of like pirates.”

“Perhaps the president won’t be too pleased to learn that his secretary of state has so quickly forgotten his own proud claim of being like pirates,” Baqaei added.
