US President Donald Trump stated that the United States could conclude its operation against Iran right now, but he requires guarantees that it will not have to be repeated in the future.
"We could leave right now, and we would have already done a good job, an excellent job... However, that is not enough for me. We must ensure that this does not happen again in five, six, or ten years," Trump said during an event at the White House.
On February 28, the United States and Israel began launching strikes against targets in Iran, to which the Iranian side responded with its own strikes.
In mid-June, Tehran and Washington signed a memorandum to cease hostilities; however, they subsequently exchanged further strikes.
At present, the conflict remains unresolved.
