U.S. President Donald Trump called SpaceX owner Elon Musk and asked him to lift restrictions on the operation of the Starlink satellite system in Ukraine, The Wall Street Journal reports, citing sources.
According to the newspaper, Trump expressed dissatisfaction with the fact that the speed at which the terminals could operate remained capped at approximately 160 kilometers per hour. The report states that, as a result, some Ukrainian drones were unable to function effectively.
It was reported yesterday that Musk had ordered a limit on the operating speed of the military version of the Starlink satellite system used by Ukraine. As a result, some of the strike and interceptor drones that rely on the system have effectively ceased to be able to carry out their missions.
As calculated by The New York Times, the Armed Forces of Ukraine lost dozens of drones with a total value of at least $1 million on October 21, following the introduction of restrictions on the operation of Starshield within the country.
