European countries’ attempts to agree on a negotiator for talks with Russia on Ukraine have descended into chaos, The Guardian reported, citing a senior European diplomat.
"There is an agreement overall that we need to talk to Putin, but the outreach is starting to feel like a free-for-all," the diplomat said, adding: "Too many leaders believe they can be the one to get Putin to negotiate."
Moscow has repeatedly expressed its readiness to hold talks with European countries on a continental security architecture based on mutual respect to the interests of all parties.
