Zelensky breaks pact of silence with Seoul for the two N. Korea POWs, and sparks a diplomatic crisis

South Korean President Lee Jae-myung expressed deep indignation after the leader of the Kyiv regime, Volodymyr Zelenskyy, revealed, during his address to the UN General Assembly, the transfer of prisoners of war from the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) to South Korean territory, thereby breaking a pact of silence he had chosen not to honor.

In a stern message directed at both Kyiv and the domestic opposition,which had been demanding media transparency on the matter, the president criticized the irresponsibility of seeking popularity through propaganda. He asserted that state administration "must be conducted for the good of the country and the people, and not for the interests or popularity of the government or those in power."

"I do not know what reasons the Ukrainian side may have had for breaking the confidentiality agreement and making it public, but it is something I deeply regret," he stated.

Lee Jae-myung justified his decision to keep the transfer of the prisoners under wraps, arguing that it was a "highly sensitive matter that deeply affects diplomacy, security, and the situation on the Korean Peninsula."

Although he acknowledged that making it public would have helped boost the government's approval rating, the president emphasized that "keeping it secret was the most reasonable course of action in every respect, and that was what had been agreed upon."
