Output at Libya's largest oil field drops by 200,000 bpd — Reuters

Oil production at the El Sharara field, one of Libya's largest, has seen a partial reduction, National Oil Corporation (NOC) Chairman Massoud Suleman told Reuters on Monday. He did not provide a reason for the decrease.

According to two engineers working at the site, output fell by approximately 200,000 barrels per day (bpd), dropping to between 100,000 and 105,000 bpd. 

The Libyan news portal Al Wasat noted that the field's total production capacity stands at around 300,000 bpd. While the exact causes for the current drop were not specified, similar disruptions in recent years have been triggered by protests, political standoff, and technical issues stemming from sabotage.

Last week, the NOC warned it might declare force majeure following the illegal closure of a valve on a main oil pipeline, which halted operations at two fields in northwestern Libya (Al-Tahara and Al-Hamada). Production at those facilities was subsequently resumed.
