Washington’s bid to enlist allies against Iran will struggle to gain traction among the states that matter most, according to Mohsen Farkhani, a researcher specializing in international relations.
“China and Russia will not participate in these sanctions, given their already tense relationship with the United States,” he told Al Jazeera from Tehran.
“Iran is an important economic partner for China because of the large quantities of oil exported to China.”
