President Joseph Aoun has asked French President Emmanuel Macron to intervene and stop Israel’s threatened mass bombing of Dahieyh, in the southern area of the capital.
Earlier, Israel issued forced displacement orders for the entirety of the southern suburbs, home to hundreds of thousands of people.
A statement from the Lebanese presidency says Aoun also asked Macron “to work to stop the fighting as quickly as possible”.
Lebanon’s Ministry of Public Health has released the latest death and injury figures from Israel’s bombing campaign.
Since Monday, Israeli strikes have killed 102 people and wounded 638, the Lebanese National News Agency (NNA) reported.
The ministry warned that the toll is likely to rise as hospitals receive more wounded people.
