Gas prices on European exchanges rose by more than 10% at the opening of trading and exceeded $650 per 1,000 cubic meters, according to data from the London-based ICE exchange.
Earlier, Russian President Vladimir Putin said that, given the European Union’s intention to fully abandon Russian gas, Russia could itself initiate an early withdrawal from the European market and redirect supplies to more attractive buyers.
"No, the President exactly emphasized yesterday that it was not a decision, it was a proposal, to be more correct, an instruction to the government to explore this topic," Peskov noted.

The Russian government will meet soon to discuss the suspension of natural gas exports to Europe, Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak said today.
ReplyDeleteRussia is the European Union's second-largest supplier of liquefied natural gas (LNG), and also sells gas through the Black Sea undersea pipeline TurkStream to countries including Hungary, Slovakia and Serbia.
