Russia, Serbia are brotherly nations (Tomislav Nikolic, Serbian president)

Brotherhood of Serbian and Russian nations is sealed by joint fight for freedom in the First World War, said Serbian President Tomislav Nikolic on Thursday after unveiling a monument dedicated to soldiers of two countries that died defending Belgrade from 1914 to 1918.

The marble monument consisting of a hollow cross with a sculpture of an angel slaying the dragon was placed at the Kalemegdan fortress on Thursday with the presence of Vladimir Yakunin, deputy chairperson of the Russian "St. Andrew the First-Called Fund" that financed the sculpture together with the "Center of National Glory".

BELGRADE, August 13. /ITAR-TASS/. Serbia’s President Tomislav Nikolic has expressed surprise over how different the world community’s attitude to similar situations may be sometimes.
“Serbia was bombed and rocketed (by NATO’s forces in 1999) for alleged excessive use of force, although not a single shot had been fired in an attempt to restore control of its territory. These days in relation to Ukraine some other rules are at work. The army there is waging a war on its own people, while some countries bomb others and get support for it,” he told the TANJUG news agency in an interview.

Serbia should not join sanctions against Russia (Serbian president, Tomislav Nikolic)

BELGRADE, July 31, 21:09 /ITAR-TASS/. Serbian President Tomislav Nikolic said on Thursday that Serbia should in no way join sanctions against Russia because that would be pernicious for the country.

The Serbian president said in an interview with the Informer newspaper that he did not intend to interfere in questions that were in the government’s competence, including foreign policy, but believed that Serbia “should not join sanctions against any country, including Russia.”

BELGRADE -- Serbia wants to become a part of the EU as soon as possible and is willing to compromise on anything during the talks with the EU, says Tomislav Nikolić.

However, added the Serbian president during his meeting on Monday in Belgrade with EU foreign policy chief Catherine Ashton - recognizing the self-declared independence of Kosovo is unacceptable.
New circumstances in Kosovo need to be discussed, like the creation of the Kosovo defense force, he was quoted as saying by Tanjug.

Austrian and Serbian presidents on sanctions against Russia

A statement issued in Vienna by the office of the Austrian president said that the two leaders told a joint news conference that "sanctions are a sharp instrument that must be handled very carefully, and that must first be well considered."
Fischer, whose country is a member of the European Union, was also quoted as saying that "introducing certain sanctions is, unfortunately, easier than lifting them later," and adding:

"In that sense, the long-term perspective must remain for different nations in Europe and on the borders toward Europe, to, peacefully and with mutual trust, live together and cooperate economically with as few obstacles and possible."

Η Σερβία πάγωσε τη συμμετοχή της στην τριμερή διάσκεψη Σερβίας - Τουρκίας - Βοσνίας και Ερζεγοβίνης εξαιτίας των δηλώσεων του Τούρκου πρωθυπουργού Ταγίπ Ερντογάν για το Κόσοβο, χαρακτηρίζοντας τη συμπεριφορά του τελευταίου ως «εισβολή χωρίς τη χρήση όπλων». 

Ο Ερντογάν, μιλώντας πριν από τρεις ημέρες σε ανοιχτή συγκέντρωση στην πόλη Πρίζρεν του Κοσόβου δήλωσε ότι αισθάνεται το Κόσοβο σαν δεύτερη πατρίδα του, ότι «το Κόσσοβο είναι Τουρκία» και ότι «οι λαοί του Κοσόβου και της Τουρκίας ανήκουν στην ίδια χώρα».
Ο πρόεδρος της Σερβίας Τόμισλαβ Νίκολιτς αντιδρώντας στη δήλωση του Ερντογάν ανακοίνωσε την απόφασήη του να μην συμμετάσχει στη διάσκεψη των τριών χωρών που πραγματοποιείται κάθε χρόνο από το 2010, μέχρι να ζητήσει συγνώμη η τουρκική κυβέρνηση.

Στον Σέρβο πρόεδρο απαγορεύτηκε η είσοδος στο Κόσοβο/Kosovo bars entry to Serbian President Nikolic

Οι αρχές του Κοσόβου απαγόρευσαν την είσοδο στο έδαφός τους στον πρόεδρο της Σερβίας Τόμισλαβ Νίκολιτς.

Ο Νίκολιτς επρόκειτο κατά τη διάρκεια των Χριστουγέννων να επισκεφθεί ένα μοναστήρι κοντά στην Πρίστινα, που αποτελεί κέντρο της Σερβικής Ορθόδοξης Εκκλησίας στο Κόσοβο.

Σύμφωνα με την Πρίστινα, αυτή η απόφαση αποτέλεσε απάντηση στην απαγόρευση εισόδου αξιωματούχων του Κοσόβου στη Σερβία.

M. KOTOVSKA: A few days ago in Washington D.C. there was this event, a discussion where representatives from the «Macedonian», «Turkish» and
«Albanian» minority in Greece, discussed and complained about the constant violation of their human rights here in Greece. Now we have a judgment from the European Court of Human Rights, regarding the «Macedonian minority» and this judgment is not being respected by the Greek Government and also we have recommendations from the UN expert Kane McDougal, who is also not being respected. So, I wanted to know if the Government, like by Prime Minister Samaras, is planning to start respecting some of those recommendations or the human rights in general.
