Israeli war jets resume airstrikes on northern Gaza Strip

Israeli war jets carried out on Sunday night a series of intensive airstrikes on militants posts in northern Gaza Strip in response to earlier rockets firing from the area into southern Israel, security sources said.

Despite tensions with US, Israel to purchase second batch of F-35 fighter jets

Defense Minister Moshe Ya'alon and US Secretary of Defense Chuck Hagel finalized the terms of Israeli's purchase of a second squadron of F-35 fighter jets in recent days.

The move came after the previous Israeli government decided that the air force may buy up to three F-35 squadrons.

The first batch of F-35 Joint Strike Fighter jets are due in Israel in 2016, and 19 jets will arrive in Israel by 2018. From 2019, the jets that will make up the second squadron are expected to begin arriving.

Israeli warplanes strike on Gaza in response to rocket attacks

Israeli warplanes hit targets belonging to militants in the Gaza Strip early Sunday in response to rockets firing into Israel, witnesses and paramedics said.

The witnesses said Israeli war jets hovered over the Gaza Strip and fired several missiles at targets in the southern Gaza towns of Rafah and Khan Younis, adding that explosions were heard in both areas.

Paramedics said rescuers and ambulances rushed to the targeted areas, but no injuries were reported.

Israel Strikes Targets in Syria

Israel has bombed several Syrian sites in the Golan Heights in retaliation for a cross-border attack Sunday that killed an Israeli teenager.

Israeli officials said the airstrikes Monday targeted a Syrian regional military headquarters and "launching positions." Direct hits were confirmed.

The strikes came in response to what an Israeli military spokesman called an intentional attack on Israel and the "most substantial" cross-border violence since the beginning of Syria's civil war in 2011.

Report: Israel destroyed Hezbollah-bound missile shipment in Syria.

U.S. source tells CNN that latest strikes on Syria were carried out by Israel, in the wake of a similar report by Al Arabiya.

Israel Air Force are behind the recent attack on a military base in the Syrian city of Latakia, a U.S. official told CNN on Thursday.
According to the unnamed source, the strike targeted a shipment of missiles and related equipment Israeli intelligence estimated were to be transferred to Hezbollah.
Earlier on Thursday, citing anonymous sources, Al-Arabiya carried a similar report.

It said that the strikes targeted an SA-8 surface-to-air missile shipment for Hezbollah and that the two targets were destroyed.
In addition to striking Latakia, the Saudi-owned news outlet said, Israeli planes had also staged an attack in Damascus on Wednesday.
