Hillary Clinton faults Obama's policy for chaos in Iraq. ("The failure to help build up a [credible] fighting force")

Former U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, in an interview published on Sunday, blamed President Barack Obama's failed foreign policy for the rise of Islamic militants in both Syria and Iraq.

Talking to the Atlantic monthly, Clinton used harsh words to describe the failure that resulted from Obama's decision to stay on the sidelines during the first phase of the Syrian conflict in which the opposition has been trying to topple President Bashar al- Assad.

CNN interview: Hillary Clinton notes distance from Obama on Syria rebels (arming moderates in Syria)

WASHINGTON - Potential Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton pointed out her differences with President Barack Obama on Tuesday over his decision not to arm moderate Syrian rebels, as neighboring Iraq struggles to cope with extremist spillover from Syria.
"We pushed very hard. But as I say in my book, I believe that Harry Truman was right, the buck stops with the president,"
Clinton said in a CNN interview.
The former secretary of state said she, along with the then heads of the Pentagon and CIA tried but failed to persuade Obama to arm the rebels fighting Syrian President Bashar al-Assad, but that the White House resisted.

“Hard Choices”: Erdoğan holds key to Turkey's future, Hillary Clinton writes in memoir

Hillary Clinton's new memoir, “Hard Choices,” which many observers interpret as an unofficial kickoff of her prospective 2016 presidential campaign, dishes out a lot about key world leaders, but Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdoğan has a special place in the 656-page book published June 10.

From Cyprus to Armenia, Turkey is portrayed in the book as a difficult actor in negotiations in which Clinton often set the tone as Washington’s top diplomat who visited 112 countries in her tenure.

Clinton: arming Syrian rebels was the right move. (“Hard Choices”)


Clinton’s long-awaited book “Hard Choices” -- seen as an unofficial start to her expected presidential run -- is set for a June 10 release, but CBS News said Thursday it purchased a copy at a bookstore.
