 German Chancellor Friedrich Merz’s Christian Democratic Union (CDU) lost the vote in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, failing to make it into the regional parliament for the first time in Germany's history, the state election commission said, citing preliminary results after all ballots have been counted.
