Austria far-right candidate concedes defeat in presidential race

The candidate vying to become Europe's first freely elected far-right head of state since World War Two conceded defeat in Austria's presidential election soon after polls closed today.

La Cour constitutionnelle autrichienne a annoncé vendredi l'invalidation des résultats de la présidentielle qui a vu l'écologiste Alexander Van der Bellen battre de peu le candidat d'extrême droite Norbert Hofer en mai, en raison d'irrégularités dans le dépouillement de certains suffrages.
