Trump announces he will distribute millions of dollars in checks to 20 million people

President Donald Trump announced on Friday that his administration will distribute approximately $2 billion in $90 checks to more than 20 million seniors to offset the increase in Medicare Part B premiums.

"I am pleased to announce that my administration will immediately begin sending 'checks' of nearly $100 to more than 20 million seniors," he wrote in a message posted on Truth Social.

"I pledged to protect and preserve Medicare and Social Security, which were on the brink of ruin because of Joe Biden, who recklessly and maliciously allowed tens of millions of illegal immigrants into our country," he added.

Trump has also once again stated that he would pay $5,000 to every adult American if Republicans win the midterm congressional elections.

The US President had previously mentioned this payment at the Republican Party convention.

According to US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent, there are ways to implement such a measure without increasing the budget deficit.

US midterm congressional elections are scheduled for November 3; the entire Senate and one-third of the House of Representatives will be up for election.

Republicans currently control both chambers, but according to various media reports, they could lose the election.
