The U.S. Treasury Secretary could not call Ukraine a U.S. ally

 He also stated that Zelenskyy’s position represents a "false dichotomy":

"Zelenskyy presented a false dichotomy this morning: either Ukraine must win, or the war must end. But the war should be brought to a conclusion through a negotiated agreement. President Trump has been working toward this every single day, from the very moment he took office," Scott Bessent said in an interview.

When pressed by the journalist on whether the United States considers Ukraine an ally, Bessent replied that the U.S. is already providing the country with three types of assistance, adding that he lacks the authority, which belongs to the President or the Secretary of State, to provide a definitive answer to that question.
