Russia weighs in on Trump’s suspension of the sanctions law

"This decision demonstrates the seriousness of the U.S. administration's intention to contribute to finding a solution," Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov said.

Furthermore, he emphasized that, following this decision by Donald Trump, one can expect "outcries and jeers" from the European Union and its allies.

U.S. President Donald Trump has issued an executive order exempting certain anti-Russian sanctions and tariffs, mandated by a recent law that tightens restrictions against the Eurasian nations, from being enforced.

"I hereby waive the application of the sanctions, restrictions, and obligations set forth in the Graham Act," he stated in the document, released this Friday by the White House, referring to the legislation championed by the late Republican Senator Lindsey Graham.
