Riyadh International Airport will remain closed until October 17 following Houthi attacks

The Houthis from the Yemeni rebel movement Ansar Allah say they have struck Riyadh International Airport with a ballistic missile.

"Our armed forces  attacked King Khalid International Airport in  Riyadh with a ballasting missile. The strike was precise," Houthi spokesman Yahya Saria wrote on Telegram.

He once again warned international air carriers and passengers against flying to Saudi airports, saying that all of them, except the ones in Mecca and Medina, are "unsafe." Apart from that, according to Saria, a Houthi drone hit an airbase in the Saudi city of Khamis Mushait.

The Saudi-led coalition said earlier that it had repelled a Houthi missile attack on Riyadh.

  1. The Houthi group claimed Monday evening that it had targeted King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh with a ballistic missile and the Khamis Mushait air base in southern Saudi Arabia with a drone.

Houthi military spokesman Yahya Saree said in a statement on US social media company X that the group had fired a ballistic missile at the airport, claiming the strike was “accurate.”

Earlier, the Saudi-led coalition in Yemen announced the “interception and destruction of a ballistic missile” launched by the Houthis toward Riyadh, without providing further details.

The coalition’s announcement coincided with Saudi Civil Defense declaring that the danger had passed in Riyadh, minutes after issuing an early warning over a potential danger.
