Pakistan has authorized military deployment to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, bordering Afghanistan, amid escalating tensions with Kabul following recent Pakistani airstrikes on Afghan territory, Dunya News reports.
Earlier, Islamabad declared a state of emergency in the province, accusing local authorities of failing to combat terrorism. Troops have been tasked with maintaining public order and protecting civilians and government facilities.
The deployment comes as Pakistan accuses Afghanistan's Taliban government of harboring militants responsible for cross-border attacks, allegations Kabul denies.
