Netanyahu has announced the largest operation in the West Bank since 1967

The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) will conduct an operation in the West Bank, the largest such operation since 1967, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced on October 23.

"This is exactly what we will do here, in the Hebron neighborhood from which the terrorists emerged. We will evacuate the residents, go through every house, seize weapons, and dismantle and destroy all terrorist infrastructure," he said, as quoted by The Times of Israel.

According to Netanyahu, the timing of the operation will be announced later. This territory has been under Israeli control since 1967. The stated objective of the operation is to eliminate the militant groups operating in the area.

He made this statement after an attack by armed Palestinian radicals near the city of Hebron earlier on Friday, as a result of which five Israelis were wounded. The shooters were eliminated on the spot. After the incident, the Israeli military surrounded Hebron and began combing the area in search of possible accomplices. Netanyahu then announced his intention to isolate the West Bank.
