At least five Palestinians have been killed and six others severely wounded in an Israeli air attack on a residential apartment in Gaza City’s Remal neighbourhood, according to medical staff at al-Shifa Hospital.
The strike hit the al-Asala building early on Saturday without warning, while residents were asleep. Al Jazeera’s Hani al-Shaer reported that three strikes hit the apartment, tearing through several floors of the building.
The dead included four women, among them an elderly Christian woman and her daughter, according to al-Shifa Hospital.
Palestinian Civil Defence crews searched the rubble for missing people as Israeli drones continued flying overhead.
