German federal prosecutors have refused to drop the case concerning the sabotage of the Nord Stream pipelines

A representative of the German Federal Public Prosecutor's Office, speaking at the Higher Regional Court in Hamburg, rejected a defense motion to dismiss the case against Ukrainian national Serhii Kuznetsov, who is accused of coordinating the sabotage of the Nord Stream gas pipelines.

On Tuesday, the Hamburg court held its second hearing in the case concerning the sabotage of the pipelines.

At the very beginning of the session, the presiding judge noted that, during the first hearing on October 14, the defense had filed a motion to have the criminal proceedings dismissed entirely, citing what they argued were procedural obstacles.

The judge then read out, among other things, a written statement submitted to the court from the former commander of the defendant, Roman Chervinsky, which indicates that Kuznetsov is bound by a non-disclosure agreement regarding Ukrainian military secrets.

Following this, she gave the floor for comments to a representative of the German Federal Public Prosecutor's Office, Senior Prosecutor Stefan Schmidt.

"The defense's motion to dismiss the case cannot be granted," said Schmidt.
He emphasized, in particular, that Kuznetsov’s right to a defense has not been violated, and that his status as a serviceman, as well as the provisions of Ukrainian law, do not preclude him from providing testimony in a German court.
