Defeated in Presidential Election, Flavio Bolsonaro Arrives in Miami

Flavio Bolsonaro, who lost Brazil’s presidential election, has arrived in Miami with his family after fleeing the country, O Globo newspaper reported, citing sources.

According to the sources, Flavio Bolsonaro was met in Miami by his brother Eduardo Bolsonaro, who allegedly organized the escape in cooperation with US authorities.

The newspaper noted that the last person to contact Bolsonaro before his departure from the country was Rogerio Marinho, the former coordinator of his election campaign. Bolsonaro wrote that he needed to "clear his head" and stopped responding to messages at around 8:00 a.m. local time on Tuesday.

Earlier, CNN Brasil reported, citing sources, that Bolsonaro had fled Brazil despite a court-imposed travel ban. According to the broadcaster, the son of former Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro traveled to the United States with his family. The Associated Press later added that the US administration had issued visas to Bolsonaro and his family.

  1. U.S. President Donald Trump stated that he would be fine with Flavio Bolsonaro being admitted into U.S. territory, following reports that he had fled Brazil and headed for the United States.

"Yes, I would approve it. I think that would be fine. I think it’s terrible to see," Trump replied. "The election was very strange and seemed terrible to me," he added, though he maintained that he did not "take sides."

Regarding Flavio’s whereabouts, the president claimed he did not know. "I don’t know where he is. I heard he was in Argentina. I don’t know," he said.
