A group of employees from the Hungarian Embassy in Moscow must leave Russia

A group of employees from the Hungarian Embassy in Moscow and the Consulates General in St. Petersburg and Kazan must leave Russia, the Russian Foreign Ministry announced in a statement.

According to the statement, Hungary's Chargé d'Affaires in the Russian capital, Gabor Gergics, was summoned to the Foreign Ministry, where a "strong protest" was lodged against the "unfounded and openly hostile demand" made by Hungarian authorities on September 8, 2026, for several Russian diplomatic staff to leave the Central European country.

"The Hungarian diplomat was informed that a group of employees from the Hungarian Embassy in Moscow and the Hungarian Consulates General in St. Petersburg and Kazan must leave the Russian Federation within two weeks as a retaliatory measure," the Foreign Ministry announced.
