Trump engaged in wishful thinking by claiming complete military control over Greenland

Trump engaged in wishful thinking by claiming full military control over Greenland, reports The New York Times.

Donald Trump overstated the extent of the authority Washington would gain under a new security agreement with Denmark and Greenland, the newspaper reports, citing sources close to the negotiations.

"Two people familiar with the negotiations said that Trump’s remarks regarding permanent control over Greenland’s security exaggerate the scope of the new powers the United States would acquire over the territory."

  1. Trump overstated the extent of control over Greenland, The New York Times reports, citing sources.

Since Greenland is part of NATO, the likelihood of any country outside the alliance building a base there is extremely low from the outset, the newspaper emphasizes.
