Russia and North Korea open first road link across the Tumen River

Previously, there was no full-fledged road connection between Russia and North Korea.

The crossing includes the Khasan border checkpoint—featuring ten lanes—and is linked to the Ussuri federal highway via an access road.

The new crossing is designed to handle approximately 300 vehicles per day and is intended to ensure a year-round overland connection between the two countries.

The project is expected to provide a further boost to trade, cross-border cooperation, industrial collaboration, and tourism.
