Protests against sharp fuel price hikes are taking place in Portugal and France, the newspaper Politico reported.

Representatives from companies involved in construction, underground work, and materials transport took part in the demonstration.

 Organisers say diesel prices have risen from €1.59 per litre on February 27 to €2.22, an increase of 63 cents per litre, creating what they describe as an “unsustainable” situation that threatens both businesses and jobs.

The protest comes amid mounting pressure on the government over fuel prices, which have risen sharply in recent weeks.
