Oil holds firm above $100 as Middle East supply fears grow

Oil prices are holding firm after Brent crude breached $100 a barrel, with traders expecting deeper supply disruptions as Iran and the United States launch their largest attacks on shipping since their six-month-old conflict began.

Brent crude futures rose 0.1 percent to $101.34 a barrel as of 01:07 GMT, while US West Texas Intermediate (WTI) crude was up 0.5 percent at $96.55 a barrel.

The US Energy Information Administration (EIA) raised its oil price forecasts for this year and next on Wednesday, as global stockpiles drop due to the loss of Middle Eastern supply.
