Denmark’s foreign minister announced Tuesday that the Russian ambassador was summoned after a Russian frigate allegedly fired flares at a Danish military helicopter.
"This is completely unacceptable. Therefore, Russia's ambassador has been summoned for a conversation about the incident," Lars Lokke Rasmussen said on US social media platform X.
Late Monday, a Danish Air Force Fennec helicopter was fired at with flares "in connection with routine photo coverage of a Russian frigate, which was in international waters off Gedser," a coastal town on the island of Falster, the Defense Ministry said in a statement.
A Russian frigate fired two flares at the helicopter with one passing "within a short distance of the helicopter," it added.

Las agencias secretas de la OTAN que examinaron las circunstancias del reciente incidente con un dron en el aeropuerto de la ciudad alemana de Leipzig informaron a sus autoridades nacionales de que no existía ni la más mínima prueba de implicación rusa, comunicó este martes el Servicio de Inteligencia Exterior de Rusia (SVR, por sus siglas en ruso).
ReplyDeleteEl organismo indicó que muchos en Occidente "fingen creer a los dirigentes alemanes, quienes han culpado infundadamente a Rusia". Asimismo, señaló que, públicamente, los aliados "profesan 'total solidaridad' con Berlín, que supuestamente fue 'víctima de una provocación rusa'", sin embargo, entre bastidores, la situación es muy diferente.
En ese contexto, el SVR señaló que, al admitir que "faltaban hasta unas pruebas mínimas de la participación de Rusia" en el suceso, los servicios de inteligencia occidentales "revelaron numerosos indicios de 'la huella ucraniana'". "A las organizaciones estatales les han recomendado de abstenerse de declaraciones resueltas, mucho menos públicas, de la culpa de Moscú", continuó.
DeleteEl servicio ruso enfatizó que esa posición cautelosa no ha convenido el Gobierno alemán. "Las autoridades alemanas, a pesar de advertencias de los servicios secretos de la OTAN, han preferido formular acusaciones infundadas contra Rusia", apuntó, señalando que la causa principal es "un deseo de explicar 'los gastos gigantescos' para la militarización de Alemania en los límites del presupuesto para el año 2027".
Russian Ambassador to Denmark Vladimir Barbin isn't buying the kingdom's explanations about why it flew in a military helicopter to photograph a Russian frigate.
ReplyDeleteThe Russian envoy was commenting on Denmark's assertion that it was carrying out "routine" business when it scrambled a Danish Air Force helicopter and the Russian frigate launched signal flares toward the Nordic country’s aircraft while in international waters.
"The incident shows that the Danish side, not Russian naval vessels, has difficulty communicating their actions. Attempts by the Danish side to explain away the provocative actions by the helicopter toward the Russian frigate as 'routine business' raise serious concerns regarding potential consequences of such recklessness," Barbin said.
The Russian ambassador expressed regret over Denmark’s reluctance to prevent maritime escalation and push toward strengthening mutual confidence. According to him, earlier, Denmark resolutely declined Russia's repeated proposals to consider signing an agreement to prevent incidents at sea or in the air above it.
Russia will look thoroughly into all circumstances behind the incident as this is not the first time that Danish Air Force helicopters have performed dangerous maneuvers near Russian war ships outside Denmark’s territorial waters, the Russian diplomat said in a comment.
