Brent fell below $98 per barrel following media reports that Iran is ready to open the Strait of Hormuz

Iran is prepared to open the Strait of Hormuz within seven days if the US takes the first steps to ease military pressure, Japan's Kyodo News agency reports, citing a high-ranking Iranian official.

This message has been conveyed to Washington through intermediaries, the official said.

Against this backdrop, oil prices turned negative. As of 13:11 Moscow time, the price of Brent crude futures for November delivery on the ICE Futures exchange in London stood at $97.67 per barrel, down $2.68 (2.67%) from the previous close.
