Search and rescue teams in Nepal have recovered 469 dead bodies as of Friday morning following Wednesday's flash flood, the Nepal Police said in a statement.
As many as 1,545 people have been rescued so far as search and relief operations continue across the affected regions, the statement added.
According to Nepal's National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority, as of 10 p.m. local time on Thursday, the total number of people out of contact stood at 977.

ReplyDeleteThe confirmed death toll in Nepal was at 469 people this morning, with almost 1,000 more missing there and in neighbouring Tibet, near where a glacier collapse on Wednesday morning sent a huge torrent of rock, ice, mud and debris cascading through Himalayan mountain river systems.
Authorities in Nepal used helicopters to search for survivors and drop emergency supplies to thousands cut off in towns and valleys, while emergency services – some using sniffer dogs – recovered dozens of bodies swept down into the plains.
