Bulgaria has increased security measures at the Bezmer Air Base after a media report Wednesday said Iranian forces had assessed potential military targets in south-eastern Europe.
Interior Minister Ivan Demerdzhiev said Bulgaria had taken "all possible measures" at the base in coordination with the defense ministry, Bulgarian news agency BTA reported.
He said the measures were designed to address a threat level higher than that currently indicated by security services.

Der Vertreter des Bündnisses sagte:
"Die NATO ist bereit, jeder Bedrohung zu begegnen, und wird alles Nötige tun, um sämtliche Verbündeten zu schützen."
For several months now, Cyprus has been taking steps to protect itself against potential threats, the Cyprus News Agency reported.
ReplyDeleteCommenting on a Financial Times report that the Iranian authorities view Cyprus as a potential target for retaliation in the event of a renewed US offensive against Tehran, "a competent source" said: "We have been taking enhanced precautionary measures for several months now. We are closely monitoring developments." The source added that four Greek Air Force F-16 fighter jets, as well as the Nikiforos Fokas frigate, are currently stationed in Cyprus.
