Brent falls below $82 per barrel, first time since July 13

Oil ⁠prices have fallen by more than $4 a barrel after Trump called off planned attacks on ‌Iran’s infrastructure.

 The price of Brent crude futures contract with September delivery on the ICE exchange in London fell below $82 a barrel for the first time since July 13, according to trading data.

The United States and Iran are set to resume negotiations on August 3, US President Donald Trump said.

Speaking to the press aboard Air Force One on Sunday, August 2, Trump said that the United States had decided against delivering "a massive attack" on Iran at the request of Saudi Arabia, Qatar, the United Arab Emirates (UAE), and Iran.

  1. Diplomatic efforts toward easing tensions in the Gulf were the focus of a phone call between Foreign Ministers Prince Faisal bin Farhan Al-Saud of Saudi Arabia and Abbas Araghchi of Iran, the Saudi Foreign Ministry said.

    "The sides discussed recent developments amid the current situation and diplomatic efforts geared toward de-escalation," it said.

    The top Saudi diplomat stressed that Riyadh is committed to continuing to play its regional role in ensuring security and stability.
