US to lift sanctions against Türkiye, S-400 systems from Russia no problem for F-35 sales — Trump

The United States intends to lift its sanctions against Turkey imposed after Ankara had purchased Russia’s S-400 anti-aircraft missile systems, President Donald Trump said.

"We're going to be taking the sanctions off," he told Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.

US President Donald Trump said he does not view Turkey’s earlier purchase of S-400 air defense systems from Russia as an obstacle to a potential contract to sell US-made F-35 fighter jets to the country.

Negotiations between the American and Turkish leaders are taking place on the sidelines of the NATO summit.
