Houthis claim attacks on 2 Saudi tankers in Red Sea
Iran has responded to Trump’s latest threat that any Iranian attack on ships in the Strait of Hormuz would trigger US strikes on bridges and power plants in Iran, including near Tehran.
Tehran said the threat represents a new escalation and warned that it would respond if Iranian civilian infrastructure is attacked.
The US military has completed another series of strikes on Iranian territory, the United States Central Command (CENTCOM) reported.
"US Central Command forces completed another round of strikes against Iran for the 12th consecutive night," the command said on X.
US forces struck "Iranian military targets including maritime capabilities, missile and drone storage facilities, coastal surveillance sites, and air defense assets," according to the report.
The Houthis from the Yemeni rebel movement Ansar Allah have announced strikes on two tankers in response to the violation of the maritime blockade against Saudi Arabia.
"Yemeni armed forces conducted an operation striking two Saudi oil tankers that had violated the blockade imposed by the armed forces in the Red Sea. One of the vessels was named ENCELIA and the other LAYLA," according to a Houthi press release.
The Saudi agency SPA confirmed the strike on the vessel, noting that all crew members of the Encelia were safe. According to the agency, the strike on the tanker caused a fire in the bow section.

Yemen’s Houthis said they had struck two Saudi oil tankers in the Red Sea in the first such attack since the Iran-backed militant group declared a naval blockade of the kingdom.
Houthi military spokesman Yahya Saree said on Wednesday that the group had targeted the Saudi-flagged vessels Encelia and Layla with missiles and drones. He added that around ten ships had changed course since the blockade was formally imposed on Monday.
According to the UK Maritime Trade Operations coordination center, a vessel reported catching fire after being struck by an unidentified projectile around 130km from Al Shuqaiq, Saudi Arabia. There were no reports of casualties.
A video posted on social media appears to show a large fire aboard a ship.
