US strike killed leader of Tren de Aragua gang in coordination with the Venezuelan side - Trump

 Donald Trump said US forces carried out a strike that killed Hector Rusthenford Guerrero Flores, also known as Niño Guerrero, the leader of Venezuelan prison gang Tren de Aragua.

"At my direction, the United States Southern Command delivered a swift and lethal kinetic strike to successfully execute Nino Guerrero, the infamous leader of Tren de Aragua, one of the most bloodthirsty terrorist organizations on the planet," Mr Trump said in a post on Truth Social..

"This action was coordinated closely with our friends in Venezuela, with whom we are working very well."

  1. The Venezuelan government said on Friday that Hector Rusthenford Guerrero Flores, known as "Nino Guerrero," was killed in a security operation in southeastern Venezuela.

    The operation took place in Bolivar state, an area described as a corridor for illicit activities linked to criminal networks. Caracas said it targeted organized crime groups operating in the region and was carried out jointly with U.S. authorities.

    According to a statement from the Ministry of Communication and Information, clashes broke out between security forces and members of the groups during the operation, in which Guerrero Flores, leader of the Tren de Aragua criminal gang, was killed.

    Authorities said the operation dismantled organized crime groups and was supported by specialized technology and bilateral intelligence-sharing and coordination mechanisms between the two countries.

  3. The US said it had killed a notorious gang leader in an strike on his compound in Venezuela.

    US Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth said the operation targeting Tren de Aragua leader Hector Rusthenford Guerrero Flores, known as Nino Guerrero, was carried out earlier this week in full coordination with Venezuelan authorities.

    “Guerrero was a wanted fugitive charged by the US Department of Justice with ordering, directing, and facilitating acts of terrorism and violence in the United States,” US Southern Command chief General Francis Donovan said.
