US Senate schedules vote on war powers resolution

The US Senate is set to vote on a war powers resolution that would bar Trump from further military action against Iran, as criticism builds over his decision to forge ahead with the attacks without congressional approval.

Debate on the bill is scheduled to begin at 11am local time (16:00 GMT) today, with the vote set to take place at 4pm (21:00 GMT).

There is the prospect that the Senate will take up a resolution on Wednesday that would determine whether or not Congress would be giving its consent to this military operation. The House has also been trying to get a similar resolution on its schedule.
