Iran has allowed 10 oil tankers to pass through the strategic Strait of Hormuz as a “present” to show it is serious about negotiations to end the war, the US president says.
Referring to cryptic comments he made earlier this week about a “gift” from Tehran, Trump said Iran initially allowed eight “big boats of oil” to transit the waterway this week, followed by two others later on.
The tankers included some Pakistan-flagged vessels, he said.
- Tehran promised to transfer eight tankers with oil to Washington as a goodwill gesture, US President Donald Trump said.
"They said, to show you the fact that we're real and solid and we're there, we're going to let you have eight boats of oil, eight boats, eight big boats of oil. This was two days ago," the US leader noted. "I think they were Pakistani flagged," Trump added.
